Know use of F5(skip Autoexec.bat and Config.sys) and F8(step through) in various troubleshooting scenarios.

Know installation switches in Dos(/m, /q, /g, /h, /f,) and Windows(/i, /a, /b, /t, /h, /o, /s).

Be familiar with 3 levels of file deletion protection in DOS and their advantages and limitations.

Look over troubleshooting flow charts. Page ?

Remember that you may see NT filenames or features listed as options for answers on Windows 3.1 test. Example: "Last known good configuration".

Memorize fonts table on page ?

Be familiar with multiple configurations in Config.sys and Autoexec.bat files.

Understand that using the copy command doesn’t expand the compressed files on the Win 3.1 disks. If you suspected a problem with a mouse driver you can’t copy directly from the disks but must expand the file into the directory where it is required.

Memorize switches on Chkdsk, Scandisk and Defrag.

Take both Windows 3.1 and 3.11 Roadmap Tests. Some questions from 3.11 have been seen on 3.1 test.

Be familiar with minimum system requirements for both DOS and Windows.

Understand differences in core files and their roles: KRNL386.EXE, GDI.EXE and USER.EXE.

Be able to contrast and compare OLE linking and embedding.

Understand Setup /a for network installation and local vs shared copy of Windows.

Understand options available in setup express vs custom.
